Honeysuckle (Ethos) sweet floral
Shave 1 ・ 141 g
Frank’s latest version of his F base has soared to the top of my list. This is the one – the lather I’ve always dreamed of. With perfect cushioning, slickness, and a clean finish, it combines all that is best in tallow and vegetal formulas. I enjoyed three passes without the slightest hint of irritation or burn, and there’s nothing greasy afterwards. And the scent? The warm, authentic fragrance of honeysuckle basking in the sunshine – it reminded me of a a walk to church on a peaceful Sunday morning.

Eucalyptus Piperita (Joserra) wet peppermint
Today’s pick, Eucalyptus Piperita, had me tearing up the moment I uncapped it. No extra menthol needed – the natural menthol found in the mint does the job, clearing the head and cooling the skin. The lather is thick and creamy, just the way we like it, and the duck fat adds an extra layer of slickness. With cow tallow, quack fat, and clay this is one of the very best soap bases ever.
There must be more seasonal variability in climate than advertised.
Coincidentally, an especially itchy neck drove me to a similar destination, a Joserra (Brihuega - lavender) and Eufros (Boreal - institutional lavender) with eucalyptus oil and menthol in the form of essential oil of cornmint (menthol) added to the bowl. Does the trick; dominates the scent (although Mumtaz {Grooming Dept.}—whose scent might persist through Armageddon—would make an interesting test case). The oils do seem to be lather-deflators, for what that's worth.

Thank you my friend for the encouraging words. You hit on two things I wanted my soaps never to be and that is to have a greasy post shave and hard to rinse off. So thanks for recognizing these two properties. Means a lot to me.
Balkan Blend (black cherry lozenge/toffee) – Shannon's
Tub scent has grown on me. Lather scent seems to go all-cherry.
Croap texture cuts down on bowl-lathering time. Cushion and conditioning may be areas of underperformance if one prefers robust, substantial soaps.
