AION Mallard Coconut Fig off the tub smells like caramel and vanilla.  Where's the fig???  Well it's there just not what I expected based on the artwork.  I'm amazed how different the scent off the tub is so different from the lather. To me the fig in this soap is green, like the scent you get from the fig leaves.  I also read a comment by Mo where he said he likes his figs a bit green.  I'm still looking for the coconut and hoping I'll find it after more uses.  At this point though, this is not a scent that I can say I enjoy smelling.  I have plenty of soaps that started out this way and I ended up really liking the scent after some time so we'll see.
Ditto AF. Couldn't find the coconut or fig. Honey Almond. It did change and morph upon lathering. Like you, I am going to try again this week.

Utopia (tobacco, oud, benzoin . . . per label) – WestMan

Stirring around below the "crust" revealed this soap is softer than first appeared.

Open Black (Roger & Gallet) and Puros (RazoRock) carry the tobacco theme more clearly.

Clay Face

Strong ’n Scottish (Meißner Tremonia) smoky whisky
Shave 15

The cool rain that fell all night inspired me to reach for this jar of smoky soap, and it was the perfect choice. If you were a fan of the original L’Occitane Cade soap, you’ll likely enjoy Strong 'n Scottish as well. It’s a true reeker, with bold notes of smoky peat and tar, complemented by the warmth of a whisky. I’m not a drinker at all. In fact I’m a teetotaler. But I like the smell of this boozy soap smeared all over my face. There's something satisfying about lathering up with a scent that feels both rugged and comforting, even if I’ll never sip the whisky it evokes.

Oasisdave, thanks for your kind words. That was very encouraging. I hope something I write will, from time to time, amuse you all.

And HighSpeed, let me echo Tommy’s question. Have you figured out how to make a good and lasting lather from a Le Père Lucien soap? I gave that problem my all for a couple years, but in the end, I binned every one of them. Broke my heart.
