. . . fresh, clean notes . . .Bouki

Those are what jump out at me, big time, in a powerful way.

. . . I'm also reminded of a freshly sliced potato. It’s a clean fragrance, with earthy notes that evoke the smell of hot, dry dirt just before the rains come. Like vetiver, this fragrance has an earthy depth, but while vetiver is smoky and grassy, this scent feels lighter, blending fresh, clean notes with a hint of warm, dusty soil. There's just enough intrigue here to make you wonder whether you're getting ready for a night out or you're simply going to hoe the garden.   — Bouki

Man, so far, I'm not perceiving dust, grass, and smoke . . . but . . . that doesn't mean they aren't there: maybe they're just not there for me . . . yet.  My hope is flexing the olfactory muscle might cause it to grow . . . or maybe not . . . but I'm still grateful for the insight: the more blind men we have describing the tail, trunk, and tusk, the better appreciation we may have for the critter.

swellcat, I may have given the wrong impression: I don't actually smell grass or smoke in Yo Sólo. Instead, this soap has an earthy note similar to what I find in very clean vetivers. I believe the note I’m picking up is called geosmin. It's a compound found in various rooty smells like potatoes, beets, and vetiver. It’s that distinct, fresh aroma you notice just after the first rain, when the earth seems to come alive. That's the fresh earthiness I'm picking up in this soap.

Shave 4

Yesterday's shave was so good I had to do it again. This kind of repetition helps unlock the secrets of creating a perfect lather. With this soap, I’ve learned to keep the agitation to a minimum – there’s no need to add much air to the lather. Instead, I focus on gradually working in as much water as possible, using long, slow, painterly strokes to superhydrate the foam until it looks like oiled yogurt. The result is a rich, glossy lather that provides superior glide and protection. These shaves are close and painless, and they last a good twenty hours. It's hard to walk away from that.
