It took me over a year to adjust to the smell of this soap. When I first opened the tub, its sickly sweet scent triggered unpleasant memories of queasy stomachs on bumpy school bus rides. But that's changed. Now, the ripe plum fragrance brings to mind my grandma’s kitchen, where she canned massive batches of fruit and vegetables, their powerful aroma filling the neighborhood from August to November. Her plum jam was especially potent, and I can smell it in this lather. She would have liked the smell of this soap, though I can't imagine what she would have made of the label. Entropy means that things naturally fall apart, but this soap is doing the opposite – it's piecing together thoughts and feelings from years gone by.
