With notes of Pine-Sol, black powder, and nutmeg, this is not your typical bay rum. It’s clean and dirty at the same time, but it’s not overwhelming. In fact, it’s quite refreshing, and I could use it for days on end. That's why I'm finding it hard to explain why these Turtleship soaps always seem to sink to the bottom of my bin. Every time they resurface I wonder why I don’t use them more. Very nice lather, great cushion, and some curious but never off-putting scents.

Not sure this is at all informative, but soap volume used approximated the size of a medium-smallish almond.  Lather had rested a few minutes before photo.

Confusing, seemingly contradictory data points emerged from this experience.  Soap showed nice fattiness coming out of the sample pouch, yet the first pass was rough (cool shower as pre-shave), not seeming to offer much more lubrication and softening than water.  However, upon dilution (moderate rinsing), there was some residual slickness left behind, enough to do some shaving with.

Results were good—excellent above the jawline—and the post-feel is full, soft, plump, moisturized, much as it is from the butter bombs which find favour at my house.  Not sure how we got here from there.

Bouki, i have had this puck for several years. I like it, don't love it has it does have a pine-sol note upon lathering. Thanks for the post. I was tongue lashed on another shaving blog for calling this a bay rum - as i learned "it was an absinthe bomb." Evidently my like/pisitive review had led to purchase of said absinthe bomb which led to a BST entry shortly after my misleading review. I learned early on, noses on folks are very, very different...... and hard to know whether a recommendation will lead to success. I try to not weigh in now. Like, how can anyone not love Tabac?

I have no idea if the soap is any good, but I gave it a "like" because the bowl looks great.
