Shave 3

I picked up lots of leather and smoke today, something I mostly missed last time I lathered up this soap. This is a very complex fragrance, and it's fun to watch how it changes from day to day. Sometimes it’s fruity, sometimes it’s floral, and sometimes it smells like a new handbag. It's like shaving with a kaleidoscope. I’m enjoying Mumtaz a lot. I may have to make this my soap of the summer.

I often check this board for inspiration.  Bouki inspired this choice of a soap I have almost finished.  Mumtaz is a wonderful scent and I am sure Mohammad AionSkincare will reprise this one soon:

Trying to get along with this soap. I still don't like the aroma, but is is getting milder since I first used it. I tried it this am with a lather bowl so I could experiment with the product/water ratio rather than face lathering as I usually do. I still get something like a foamed paste no matter how much water I added. Boy-this stuff can handle a lot of water! You could make a very hot lather with this-maybe that is the idea, but in no way that I can figure out can you get a voluminous lather like you can with regular tallow based red Cella in the tub.

Shave 2

Grooming Dept’s Kairos SE 2023 base is fantastic. I’m getting consistently trouble-free shaves with it, and the finish is perfect – not too dry, not too greasy. With each day I’m also learning to use less soap. Honestly, I picked up these Kairos SE soaps (Coattails, Mumtaz, Ketoret) because they were so soft I thought I’d gobble them down quickly. At first, I loaded over two grams into my bowl for each shave, creating a huge mound of lather. I predicted an early demise. But now, I’m enjoying them so much that I want them to last. It turns out that just one gram of this rich soap is enough to create plenty of lather for a day’s scraping. I’ll be in lather heaven for months.
