Coattails Redux (Grooming Dept) Thu・Rose・day
Shave 1
This is an oudy rose with some spice on the side. The oud smells of musty wood, dried apricots, and leather. The rose is dry too. I was hoping it would come out more in the lather, but it remained in the background, smelling like the shriveled rose petals you find in potpourri. Overall Cottails Redux reminds me of Noble Otter’s Nectar Amissa, though not quite as sharp and clear. The scent lingers for a couple hours after your shave.

Shire — House of Mammoth
Notes from shaves from a sample called Shire "an also-ran among Mammoth" . . . yet that sample remnant sat on the desk by the computer and got near-daily sniffs for months and months. Well, maybe this is one way cravings get flung, and I'm a sucker for greenery, outdoors, and that fanciful notion of a "summer tobacco". A scarcely-scratched tub came up at half-price, and it now has a new home.
There is earth here, but it is not a dirt bomb like a couple other vetiver soaps are; Shire is both clean and grounded. Seems there could be many scent combinations to explore: should be fun.
However much you may acquire, you will always wish to acquire more; satiety is a dream which will always elude you. — Bertrand Russell on shaving soap
