What soap/cream did you use today?

I don't know why but i've been a Stirling kick lately.  This is the 7th shave in a row using this brand.  I know there is minimal chance I will ever be able to take one soap and 3017 (i think that's the right term) it but using one brand for a week or two, that's more than doable.  Especially when you have a great soap base and lots of scents to choose from!  Although this streak may end soon as I have a new Tallow + Steel Sarsaparilla waiting to be tried

The Sarsaparilla is really well done, especially after lathering. I've become a T+S nut in the past couple months.

This name of this soap means something like ‘sunshine on moss’. It was intended to capture the smell of the deep woods on a clear day. The sunny parts are easy to spot. Even before you start building your lather, you’ll pick out the bright fir and cedar. Then as you start to lather, the moss emerges with its bitter, woody aroma reminiscent of the forest floor. This is followed by layers of deep green notes like cypress and wormwood. Despite these rich, organic elements, this is not a dirty fougère – there’s not even a hint of skank.

"Mousse Illuminee"?  If it's French I think it means --bright foam--?

Right you are, Tedolph! One of the cool things about the name is that it can be translated from French into English as either "sunshine on moss" or "shiny lather." The first interpretation describes the fragrance, while the second describes the appearance of the foam. Clever!

Crabtree & Evelyn - Sienna (Potassium Palmate first)

When I load this like I hate it, which I plan to do in perpetuity, it leaves a beautiful soft and moisturized post-shave feel.

Smells like "expensive soap" that would come in a gold foil lined artisan paper wrap sold in a high-end European boutique shop. I could see SMN having been the creators.

Double pass shave at the gym with a drug store disposable single edge. Very rough shave, and not all that close either. The Veg aftershave burned like crazy. 

I can't wait till I burn through this. Maybe a half dozen shaves left.

Um....why not just toss it, instead of suffering through? Throw it in the can, my man. Use something you know you enjoy.

You crack me up. All I can say is, try to enjoy your last 6-ish shaves with it. Oddly enough, I don’t mind Cremo. No, not even close to being a top choice, yet I’ve found it to be serviceable for a quick shave. It is slick (with the right amount of water), so I’ll give them props there. Having said that, it’s unlikely I’d get another tube. If I find myself in a big hurry to shave, either Barbasol or Edge Gel will fit the bill.

Yep, it is slick. It just doesn't have any cushion so it is a big mistake to use it with a crappy blade like I do. As with you, I thought that I would use it as a travel soap and for the gym for quick shaves. The aroma isn't bad at all. but I don't find it to be quick, and it gives me a very rough shave. Maybe with a good razor it wouldn't be so bad. But, there are so many good products out there, why suffer with this one?
