“Tobacco” really smells like banana bread batter – the wet goop you mix up before putting the loaf in the oven. It’s fruity, spicy, and it’s sort of doughy.

Maybe if you put paint thinner in your banana bread.  Are you getting that note?  Chemical, petroleum, plastic, kerosene . . . something?  Maybe brown banana peels that have been through a house fire?  Banana peels and burning tires?

I keep sniffing it, though: it must be an entertaining little thing to pretend to be horrified by.  I wonder if the repeated smelling is brain-training, self-acclimating to something novel and somewhat off-putting.

Old Strathcona — MacDuff's

Lovely scent here; if only it were as powerful as Blazing Bananas.

Eufros base is great. I have 7-8 of their pucks now, and have PIF'd several.

However, for me, only 2 scents are worthy of common usage: Rose-Oud and Ylang Ylang. The other Spaniard's soap, LJDJ [Josera] has a great base and his scents are waaaay better IMHO.

Aye, you've got something there, swellcat. I smell Xylene in my tub of Tobacco. Not at all off-putting, though. I've done a lot of house painting in my days, and that powerful thinner just reminds me of good times and clean walls.

I've tried quite a few of JabonMan's soaps. Generally the label is a good description. 

Brisa de Oriente is mostly sweet cardamom with a dab of vanilla to soften the camphor. Is there some myrrh in there, too?
Dama de Noche is night-blooming jasmine. It was way too strong for me. I gave it to my colleague at work. He adored it since he grows jasmine in his yard.
Fougère is a piney, mossy fougère. I love it on a Sunday.
Gea is an homage to Francis Kurkdjian’s Le Mâle: mint, cardamom, cinnamon, sandalwood, vanilla
Hoi An is spearmint.
Mediterraneo smells like spiced lime. Good soap, ugly label. 
Incienso smells like frankincense, though it took a year for it to finally develop that scent in full. At first it smelled very odd.
Rosa Bourbon smells like a luscious wet bourbon rose.
Kasbah strikes me as a minty amber.
Tierra Húmeda is a moderately powerful vetiver, a little on the dirty side.
Vetiver de Haití is a very strong vetiver, rivaled in terms of rankness only by Salter's French Vetiver.
Ylang Ylang smells like a tropical garden bordered by ripening bananas. It's too strong for me.

Perfect description.

Many thanks, Bouki, for the confirmation and for what may be the best—it's even alphabetized!—most comprehensive Eufros directory on the interweb. It is certainly very, very helpful for me.

Fougère easily looks the most appealing to me; if you are saying it's Sunday-only for you, why?  Maybe you mean it's the most appealing scent best savored on the most relaxing day.

Does Fougère smell something like Stirling's Varen?

Green Man – AON Base — Murphy and McNeil

Last minute audible—I had been ready to use Mammoth Alive—choosing instead to revisit this M&M sample.  Lathered easily and in a straightforward way, and the results were very good.  Nothing in the experience to deter me from further exploring this and other (I'd like to get ahold of some Kodiak base) Murphy Mc offerings.
