Sakura (Ethos) cherry blossom

The cherry trees in Japan are supposed to bloom early this year. In Kyoto the first blossoms are expected on March 22. I’m getting ready for this spectacular season by reading classic Japanese mysteries and shaving with Ethos Sakura. I love this soap’s scent, a fruity floral with a mild but intriguing base of tonka and sandalwood. The only thing I have to quibble about is the whole stick business. The soap base is fairly hard, so it takes a lot of rubbing to get a decent amount of soap on my face. Today I took a shortcut by scraping a gram off the stick and smearing that into a bowl. I got a nice heap of lather in no time, and that led to a stellar shave that was far more protective than the first shave with this non-tallow soap.
