Blind buying at Barrister and Mann is always a crap shoot.  Sometimes it’s wonderful.  Will is nothing if not bold on his scent choices and although his classic line-ups are crowd pleasers, some of his seasonals are polarizing.  Diamond for example. Many hate it….I love it.  Midnight Cowboy was a blind buy and from the description seemed right up my alley.  Although I admittedly don’t know what cipriol, copaiba, and opobonax are, I do know sandalwood, pepper corn, and nutmeg.  “Rasped wood” makes an appearance that I don’t understand…..but then I’m not Jolene’s brightest boy.  At any rate, the ingredients I don’t know are from trees as is nutmeg and rasped wood so I’m thinking……woody.  Instead I get floral. Albeit masculine floral there are flowers in it and I sort of get cologne on a smokers shirt sort of vibe.  Not sure about this one yet.  Diamond and Rhapsody had to grow on me so perhaps this one will too?  I don’t find the peppercorn in it though.

Clay Face

Bay Rum (Mike’s Natural Soaps) bay & bergamot
Shave 18

If I can just keep reminding myself that shaving is a private conversation between the blade and beard, things would work out a lot better for me. When I start to thinking that somehow skin enters into the discussion, that’s when things go south. Hide scraping is good for making moccasins, but it’s a lousy way to treat your face. All I need to do is remove the hair as gently as possible and leave the rest intact. Too often I confuse my razor with a backhoe, or I get to thinking there’s gold in them follicles and I’d better be burrowing for the vein. Truth is, there’s nothing worth looking at under that first layer of skin. Best to leave the fleece a little shaggy and still smoochable.
