What soap/cream did you use today?

Embracing a routine brings tranquillity into daily life. The comforting flow of familiar tasks reduces stress and anxiety. You build a mental sanctuary and allow your mind to focus on something other than mundane decisions, and you discover there’s pleasure to be found in the mastery of time. I used to fret an hour away thinking about soaps, brushes, blades, and razors. Now all that’s slipping into a peaceful rhythm.

I’ll add one last thought to today’s note: if you’re going to stick with one soap for a spell, make sure it’s a soap you love. My past attempts to 3017 a puck were founded, I realize now, on a certain dislike for the soap I marked out for dissolution. My efforts always fell short. What I’ve learned is this: disdain can’t motivate me; but love, I hope, will endure.

Hence the demise of modern Western democracies: the electioneering focuses on voting against an unsavoury opponent versus voting for a candidate's detailed vision of a better future. Voting against is a recipe for cynicism and ultimately demurring from a process.

Navigating the the twists and turns – not to mention the temptations – of a large collection, you kept your eye on the prize, evidence of a particular brand of grit. You’ve done a great work. Well, thank you very much for your kind words, Bouki ! You are, however, giving me much more credit than what is due. The level on this tub was pretty low when I started to work at finishing it off. I believe there were only a dozen shaves remaining, if my count is correct. What you are undertaking with MDC is far more monumental. My hat is off to you for even considering that challenge.

Since you asked about Ingress....it's Mo's "Fortis" base, which was something he did a run or two of, just to show what kind of performance he could offer in a lower cost formula. While it doesn't match the levels of his evolving flagship formulas - and wasn't designed to - it was still splendid. Scent-wise, I think it was a riff off Creed Aventus. I found it enjoyable, even though it wouldn't ever make the top 10 list of Grooming Dept. scents for me. All in all, a great base with a nice scent - what's not to love?
