Monet (Abbate y La Mantia) water lily
Shave 6

A sweet floral fragrance like Monet goes down well on a blustery day. All day the winds have been churning up the waves, and squalls have been pelting the shack. When it came time to shave, it was nice to have something that smells as peaceful as garden pond on a spring afternoon.

Each of these Abbate y La Mantia soaps uses a slightly different base. Their performance varies. Monet, for instance, comes out surprisingly thin. One pass was enough to scrape me clean. But it’s well larded with Shea butter, so it finished fine.

Another busy run! Will it ever slow down? I pray not. Love being buried like this as it makes me feel needed.  So I’m still on a Vetiver kick and the first three days of December saw Black Velvet on the desk.  Why?  Why Black Velvet three days in a row?  Because for a Vetiver lover this one really hits the spot.  Vetiver and black pepper.  Oh so nice.  The Vetiver in this one isn’t crazy wild but man it it present. I love this soap.

Then I moved on to Mickey Lees Reunion, an unapologetic Vetiver that has a lift of lemon grass but a great oily Vetiver scent.  This tub is getting thinner and cannot be replaced but I would if I could.  Very good Vetiver.

And today was Declarations Dirtyver which is a very nice Vetiver but not really that dirty.  I really do like the “Darkfall-ish” notes in this one and it shaves great.
