Yuzu Rose Patchouli (Declaration Grooming) dirty citrus rose

Right you are, Sascoman! This fruity rose really hits the spot on a cool autumn Thu·Rose·Day. What a great way to finish off the month. And the best thing is, this fragrance works all the year round. There’s enough earthiness in it for a fall or winter shave, lots of citrus for the height of summer, and plenty of rose for all the other days in between. A soap for all seasons.

Boy how different the two are! Fresh Vetiver is certainly light, lilting, and fresh with top notes of citrus rounded out by some herbal mods (basil maybe?) and the Vetiver is hiding in the base. I do find the Vetiver note easier to sense than in Green Vetiver and I’ll say the dry down of the aftershave does much to reveal the root just before lunchtime. But it is light and the soap scent itself is fleeting. I’ve gone nose blind before finishing a shave with this puck. The scent dupes Tom Fords Grey Vetiver I’m told but having never snuggled a nostril up to that juice I really couldn’t say. Others that I know though indicate that Mr. Fine dupes extremely accurately so I’m assuming this is a ringer for Grey Vetiver but…….what does it really matter? It’s been discontinued. I sure smell nice right now though.
I watched the Live from Graceland Christmas special last night on TV so I've had Elvis on the brain, and now I'm reading this. I bet you can guess what I'm using tomorrow!

The Holy Black - Sandalwood Smoke (Secret Stash 2023)
I don't know what they do, there's nothing special to look at on the ingredients list, but I get seriously great shaves (and post-shave) every time with their soaps. They have a great nose too, I don't think I've come across a scent I don't like, and I'm mostly picky, and there is a lot of variety in that population.
As for this scent... I get the sandalwood. I don't get smoke... even better though, I get the sweetness (not smokiness) note of a burning campfire or fireplace. Lovely.
