What soap/cream did you use today?

I found this tub in the bottom of a ridiculously huge box of soap.  I dig the packaging and I adore the scent but the lather is so “modern Williams” making it a bit of a disappointment.  That said, it’s plenty slick and it shaves great, just weird to slather n an immaculate lather only to see it dissipate like snow before the spring sun.  That scent though!  I’ll keep it around and shave with it occasionally just to smell that soap all day long.

Frank, I started adding post-shave products to my puck of Manna di Sicilia because I really didn’t like the smell of that soap. I reached for your fantastic smelling serums to cover up the bitterness, and they did a splendid job.

Saponificio Varesino makes an excellent lather, one of the best, so I wasn’t thinking about improving it. But just a wee drop of your serums made even that excellent lather richer and slicker. In fact, it felt like a tallow lather. Saponificio Varesino finishes sort of waxy on me. But your serums sort of melted that waxy feeling. All I got was soft and clean skin. The only problem is this: the serums leave my brushes feeling a little oily.

Today I bloomed the puck with Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue. It turned the lather gray and added a bit of chill. Smelled fresh and covered up the bitter bits in the soap. Well worth repeating, especially when the weather turns warm.

Scent notes sounded good on this one and when I got it and sniffed it off the tub I was worried it was too sweet smelling but when I lathered it all I got was mild leather which wasn’t a listed scent note.

Been too long since using my Vintage Single edge razors. The Gem Junior is a favorite and ths morning reminded me of a FACT. It gives an amazingly smooth and efficient shave. I get the allure of the pretty new machined razors in all the exotic metals. Hey I have a few too. But if you can't shave with one of these and get a good shave, I guarantee you that a $300, $400 or $500 Razor isn't going to shave you any better. Technique trumps tools.
