Like Dave in KY, I’ve come down with a head cold. But instead of making it hard for me to smell, it’s turned my sniffer onto overdrive. Everything, from the chicken soup on the stove to the toothpaste on my brush, smells way too strong. So for today’s shave, I settled on this mildly scented jar of soap scented with Himalayan cedar. It’s warm and woody and most importantly, it’s easy on the nose. Dave, I hope you get feeling better soon.

HighSpeed, I’ve never had a sniff of Ghost Town Barber, but I love the label. Could you tell me a little about it, please? And I just saw you post for today. What a shave you had! Beautiful picture.

Hi Bouki.  I hope you feel better, and thanks for the kind words.

After replying to your drugstore fragrance post, it occurred to me that "drugstore" and "barbershop" are not the same, so Ghost Town Barber (GTB) may have been somewhat off the mark.  That said, Chiseled Face describes GTB as "a classic barbershop scent with a western twist".  "Classic barbershop" means different things to different people, but Clubman is what I remember most in barber shops (and usually the talc - lol).  GTB is not that.  However, the first two ingredients are alcohol and witch hazel respectively, and there is some menthol too, which I do remember as part of the "drugstore experience".  From the website:
  • MAIN NOTES:  bergamot, basil leaf, white patchouli, oakmoss, texas cedar, leather, smoke, and gunpowder
  • INGREDIENTS: Alcohol, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Juice, Calendula, Sodium Lactate, Menthol, Menthol, Vitamin B5 Pro, Astaxanthin
And the last thing I can tell you about GTB is that, for me, GTB is the way I want to remember barbershops from when they were vintage and I was not.  I guess that's what really popped it up on my radar in response to your post.  I would use it more frequently were it not for the appeal of modern uber skin friendly alternatives.
