This entire kit is why I LOVE the many choices we have when selecting new gear.  Really doesn’t get much better than this. Brilliant pairing Tommy, that SV Felce is something!

My soap didn’t smell like much until I gave it a little water. Then the fragrance bloomed nicely into a complex rose chypre with just the right balance of jammy florals and bitter labdanum. Just the thing for a fall Thu•Rose•day.

I hate Rose anything, it always smells like a cotton candy machine in the zoo Monkey enclosure…… until I was introduced to this great……

At first my brain wouldn’t allow me to give it a chance. The voices in my head kept saying; Baccarat Rouge 540, powdered dirty baby diaper with a splash of opening a band-aid, Floris Rose Geranium, and the award winning “historical trash scent”…… Chanel #5.

I closed it up, tucked away, came back days later, whipped a brilliant lather. Had I not given it a chance I would have really been missing out on a classic. It’s truly one of the best if not the #1 Classic Rose in shaving.

This one probably doesn’t need my banter on why it’s a “W.” Or does it, lol?

This is a great scent. I have every base that Sri has made this in. I think it’s two… it would be great to see this in Siero base but it’s still so darn nice

Denarius (Wholly Kaw) Mousse de Saxe
Shave 3 ・ 109 g left

Wholly Kaw says Denarius is their interpretation of mousse de Saxe. So what exactly is that? Mousse de Saxe is a fragrance base developed in the early 20th century, which combines notes of leather, tobacco, vanilla, and violet. It’s what makes Guerlain’s Mitsouko or Caron’s Tabac Blonde smell so rich and velvety. If you haven’t smelled either of those two classic fragrances, you may still be familiar with mousse de Saxe in Barrister & Mann’s Lavanille, Beaudelaire, or Full Measure of Man. Translated into English “mousse” can mean a lot of things that make sense in the context of shaving, such as “oak moss,” “foam,” or even “lather;” while “Saxe” refers to Saxony, a region in Germany known for its top-quality leathers.

What does any of this have to do with the scene of Caesar's assassination depicted on the Denarius label? Got me. But wouldn't it be nice if ExtraProtein drew something fitting for this soap!

Hi Bouki, maybe I'm dreaming, but I think previously you mentioned that is Brutus on the label and I said that could be a nod to Brüt, which is a Mousse de Saxe.

Nero, you’re right! I forgot we made that string of connections between mousse de saxe, Brut cologne, Brutus the Roman, the Eid Mar denarius, and this soap. Thanks for reminding me.
