SAPONIFICIO VARESINO needs no introduction….
70th Anniversary Beta 4.1 is long gone and imho the BESTEST of the bunch.  SV70 collection is Aquatic Citrus with that splash of green yet preserving a lite sweet powdery scent.  When I say “LITE” I mean the sweet part, NOT the overall strength of the scent.  The overall strength of the scent is a 5 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being choke out.  I traditionally LOVE 8-10 scent strength, I want to carry around the scent like a backpack….THINK Acqua di Gio by Armani.  The SV70 scent hasn't been recreated by SV in any other of their soaps.

SV70 4.0 versus 4.1, 4.2, 4.3? Which one do I choose? Each step up to the Beta 4.3 “represents a little improvement in the overall performance of the soap” which I find EXTREMELY minimal. Maybe it’s me (and it usually is), but I find the 4.1 batch the BEST SCENTED.  Performance, all the same to me (I’ve tried all 4 versions), EXTREME hydration, protective/healing, slick, and post shave feel is of the highest caliber.  Phantom Lather? With triple milled, very minimal, I scoop a little lather in my hand when buffing/detail around my lips.  FWIW, I’m a 2 pass shaver….. at best which is a GREAT problem to have Gents!

Triple Milled is not a material everyone loves working with these days…..  I’m a scooper with my soaps; triple milled I use a microplane and into my shave bowl producing dense yoghurt, no one has time to swirl and swirl, at least I don’t. 70th Anniversary is always sold out at SV which tells me something, it’s not sold out because shavers hate! Triple milled soap is much better for sensitive skin or those with skin allergies (I have neither).  For you PETA folks, this soap is animal free.

Cheers!

AOS Rose cream

I don't know how AOS did it.... Has to be synthetic scented soap..... . But a true Tea rose, no granny, no green bits, stems or leaves to contaminate this.

This and Soap Commander are pure Rose pux. Both fantastic solo-flores.

Thanks to Neroli I got a jar. The cream was hard, almost like a triple milled soap, but I slowly rehydrated her with Distilled water back to a nice pliable cream. Glorious shave!

See you all tomorrow

Thursday, October 19, 2023 - Coate's Superior Rose
[Image: uMg7EK2.jpg]
A 'short' note on the picture.  When I went to use the Coate's Superior Rose a couple of weeks ago, the tube exploded.  Evidently it, along with the contents, had dried out.  The soap currently has about the same texture of most of my tub soaps.  I may go ahead and mix my Coate's Lime and Coate's Lavender into this tub since those tubes will probably share the same fate.

This was a common issue with their tubes. Good thing the cream inside was excellent!

Not synthetic at all... The ingredients list (on the box) had just rose essential oil/absolute.
Probably why they discontinued it, way too expensive to make for the masses at $20-25!

Ahhh. That explains why it is so great. I assumed synthetic per their biz size. Thanks Neroli.
