Cologne Russe (Barrister & Mann) winter cologne
Shave 4 ・ 105 g left
Cologne Russe refers to a type of fragrance that was made for the Russian nobility during the 19th century. It was characterized by a distinctively rich scent, combining citrus notes with herbs and spices. Barrister & Mann takes this classic blend and adds leather, which creates a warm, velvety texture not always found in cologne. The result is elegant, masculine, and reminiscent of a bygone era. I especially like how well it goes with Knize Ten. Overall, an excellent soap for shavers interested in vintage luxury.
Razor note: Last year I bought Edwin Jagger’s Kelvin razor for $24 USD on Amazon, the exclusive retailer. The handle, measuring three inches, is coated with a comfortable, grippy rubber. What truly sets it apart, though, is the chrome-plated Zamac head, which is exceptionally smooth and expertly designed. Its geometry ensures a close, trouble-free one-pass shave. I’m not sure what makes my Kelvin’s head different from all the other DE8s offered by Edwin Jagger, but this particular razor stands out not only for being one of the cheapest but also for being one of the finest shavers in my collection. (Whaddya know, I just checked Amazon, and the price has been jacked up to $32.)
