Flying Mango (Saponificio Varesino) woody cologne
Shave 2 ・ 162 g left

“The scent is complex. At first whiff you get hints of tobacco leaves. The top note is citrusy and slightly balsamic, the body aromatic with a hint of floral and lavender while the base is woody and musky.” That’s how Bullgoose describes his soap, and I can’t disagree. However, for the past few years, I’ve stored this soap in an uncovered wooden bowl alongside my collection of Japanese incense. Consequently, after having absorbed the rich woody fragrance of the incense, my bowl of Flying Mango now smells not only of tobacco and herb but also of rich sandalwood and oud. It’s a nice harbinger of autumn.

Nero, you’re absolutely right in describing Felce Aromatica as an aquatic fougère. It evokes memories of Acqua di Giò, yet with a hint of Pino Silvestre. Each time I use it, it transports me to the trail up to Ice Lake in the San Juans. That path closely follows a lively mountain stream shaded by firs, pines, and junipers – a fragrant journey indeed. However, the most enchanting part is when you ascend above the tree line, crossing the stream multiple times. The air is damp and bright and filled with the enduring scent of conifers, reminiscent of the woody-watery allure of Felce Aromatica.

The first time I smelled Leviathan it thought I might spew!  Holy cats! What sort of fowl smell is this?  But I’ll be darned if over time I’ve come to love it.  In fact I can tell the difference of scent in different bases and I choose this one in the excelsior base as the best of the lot.  goofy label art though. Haven’t warmed up to that like I have the scent.

And my bride accompanied me to Yellowstone to find some rowdy elk.  This one was bugling but he was far from crazy hot.

Inspired by Bouki, I grabbed my Mandarino Fumo tonight - one of my favorite scents.  The EDP is not for the unattentive - a cursory whiff will not do it justice - and perhaps it is not for the faint of heart either.  But IMO it is definitely an unapologetically male scent, like a smoke filled room, but IMO beautiful and distinctive, and in a masterful feat of olfactory legerdemain, without anything fetid or stale either.  If nothing else, it is definitely right for your Tuesday night poker game, or most any sporting event.  Sunday tea with grandma?  Maybe not so much.

What eh?  Have you never attended Sunday sunrise mass directly from bender filled sexcapade enroute to parents for brunch?
Not so far as you know.  Evilgrin

I hear that it's been reformulated (and not for the better) since I bought my puck.
That would be sad.
