After yesterday’s most amazing happening I could only choose Diamond as this morning’s shave. Yep, big news! This 63 year old man will be playing baseball for Boise State University this spring. Due to some injuries in college I still had two years eligibility and they approached me to continue my education so I could play baseball for them. BSU doesn’t have a really strong baseball heritage so I doubt it’ll make much difference but they are Division 1 and I’m proud to put on that blue and white and orange jersey. I asked why in the world they even called and I found that an old coach used to play with me back in the day put them onto me. They’ve struggled to find recruits to fit a very particular need they have and that friend of mine told them I have pretty good speed and a wicked curve and slider. It’s the curve and slider they were looking for. Seems they think I can use the off speed stuff to catch these batters unaware and use my significantly slower fastball to set it up. They are looking to use me in tight situations for three or four batters. I told them “but I’m old! Older than most of the coaches!” They said not to worry about that, they have talked to my general and my ortho and they agreed I was healthy. (Don’t know how they got past the HIPAA stuff but hey, I’m not too private.). So I passed the team physical and got fitted for uniforms. My old coach buddy remarked that the uniform will have to be custom made because of my thickness! Rude, but whatever. I’m surprised but remarkably confident. I’m sure a bunch of this is for optics but I’m ok with that.
And then I woke up! Dang! A dream! A stinking lousy dream! Nope, nobody calls me to play ball when city leagues start anymore either. My spikes informed me they are packing and moving out and my ball gloves are acting wishy-washy too. I did in fact go to the doc and once again was surprised to find I’m healthy as a horse (although he did share that my testosterone was a bit low). I knew that already though. So anyway, my baseball career was fun while it lasted and my worn out shoulder is glad to not have to go through that stuff again. So how about I just shave with a baseball themed soap and call it a day.
One day you’ll have to ask me about becoming the Missouri Tigers head football coach. That was another vivid dream of which I’m sure someone wants to buy the movie rights.

Finding real success with more water in the brush for loading with this formula and the CK-6.

Yup, me too - that and thinking about the pain I’d have in my shoulders after three rotator cuff surgeries!! Great story. Dream on, dream on. You know the song.
Le Tabac (Grooming Dept) humidor wood
Shave 2 ・ 118 g left
I don’t think I’ve given Grooming Dept a fair shake. Though I’ve tried half a dozen of Mohammad’s soaps exhibiting a number of different bases, I’ve never given any of them more than ten shaves. Most were passed on to friends after a couple uses, while one was pitched as it fell apart after a couple years. It’s time for a careful examination. Maybe I’ll try to use this tub of Le Tabac straight through from start to finish just so I can figure out this Kairos recipe and hopefully come to appreciate it as much as so many other shavers do. My goal is to show you an empty jar by the first day of October.
