Fougère by definition has bergamot uptop, lavender in the middle, and a solid dose of oakmoss and coumarin in the base giving that green accord we wet shavers like. These words could also be utilized to describe a barbershop scent. I find this Saponificio Varesino Cubebe to feel bright and green but alas no lavender or coumarin. The vetiver and labdanum give a green bitter feel to this puck.
It still feels appropriate for Fougère Friday - maybe I should say "Fake°gère Friday."

Over the past week, I managed with just a single jar of soap, the diminutive 50g bottle of Martin de Candre Vétyver. My travels called for practicality, and this soap’s compact size and effortless lathering made it an ideal choice. For the most part, I used softened water, resulting in an exceptionally smooth shave with extra protection. Added to that, the bone dry air of the dry regions I was in worked wonders for my skin. Upon returning to the islands, I bore no nicks or abrasions, and my skin felt a decade younger. Now I find myself back on the beach, grappling with stickiness and sweat akin to a pig sweltering above a pit, and I yearn for the simplicity of shaving in a dry environment. I can’t help but envy those among you who reside in spots where the humidity scarcely creeps past 30%.
Today’s soap headed off in the right direction. The menthol felt good in my 85° shack. But next time I’ll need to throw in some frost drops. The chill was gone before I finished writing this note.
