Barrister’s Reserve Classic (Barrister & Mann) mossy fougère
Shave 6 ・ 107 g left

This soap doesn’t seem to be made any more. I can see why. It never was a hit, even when it first came out in 2017. Inspired by vintage 1960s colognes like Gillette's Sun Up, Classic is powdery, quaint, and complex. It's not really cut out for the modern shaver. Or so I thought.

Last Sunday, I found myself seated beside a young man in his early twenties. What struck me as peculiar was his choice of aftershave, a modern replica of Sun Up. It brought about a rather unusual sensation. I couldn’t help but wonder about his decision to wear such an old fashioned aftershave. The scent was undeniably potent, strong enough in fact to prompt the thought of relocating a few seats away. However, at that moment, a wave of nostalgia washed over me. My young companion's 'old man' scent suddenly became oddly comforting. The aromatic notes of spicy greenness seemed to intertwine with my memories, transporting me back to my childhood days when I would sit in the pews alongside my father on Sunday afternoons. Now, if only I had a fresh tube of Brylcreem to complete this olfactory time travel.

HAGS Dark Knight, really good base, smells good but not at all like PDM Percival which I wear 3-4 times a week this time of year.

I certainly wish I could talk Mr. Cullen into making Dirty Prose again.  Rose with Vetiver, patcholi, sandalwood?  Yeah, excellent.
