What soap/cream did you use today?

Having heard so many great things about Nuavia but having never tried it, I got a little caught up in the FOMO moment and ended up buying a tub of each scent.  As far the scents are concerned, holy cow, they are fantastic!  Very well blended, none are over-powering, and each has its own "clean" and distinct scent.  In other words, I'm very happy with each of the soap scents.  

The lathers, well, that's a different story.  I knew going in this was an Italian soap and I've never been a big fan of the Italian bases.  They are too light and airy for me.  I wholeheartedly get that others like this type of soap or I wouldn't have read so many posts of this being the greatest soap.  Personally, I like those dense yogurt-like concoctions.  Again, that's just me.  The Nuavia lathers are definitely get the job done...they are slick and there is more than enough cushion.  But they're too airy and light for my preference.  

Am I upset that I bought these?  No, not really.  Just disappointed in the lathers so far.

Since this brain bowl is never covered, I was worried that the scent would fade quickly. That hasn’t been the case. Each time I lather the soap, I’m greeted by a surprisingly robust gust of fougère. HoosierShave, I remember you using Martin de Candre Fougère for many a moon. Did the scent ever dissipate, or did you ever grow tired of it?

I have my fougère brain bowl out on my counter and it has not dissipated at all. I have smoothed the top off pretty nicely. What a great product. It fills the bathroom up upon lathering. Amazing Right? This will live longer than me fo'sho'

I’m on the third shave with Krokos and getting a better handle on what it is and isn’t. What it is seems to be a highly super fatted soap even to the point of being oily.  That leaves me with a very plump finish but it also leaves me with a very low structure lather.  Shiny? Like a new car shiny and although I like hydrated lather this one seems more like thin yogurt that frankly leaves me dripping dollops on my chest as I shave.  If I don’t take it to that level of hydration it’s pasty.  This lather is akin to when I try to lather Cremo.  I have tried beating the stuffing out of it but still end up with a super low structure emulsion (because it’s not lather) that shaves and finishes very well but is just too far out of my wheelhouse.  Perhaps soft water allows it to fluff up better?  As it is there are no peaks, stiff or soft, at all.  This is melted ice cream.  Sure shaves nice though.

I can't say if this would help you Matt, but where I live, the water is harder than Krypronite, and a level 1/8th teaspoon of powdered citric acid is a quick, easy, and cheap way to solve a lot of lather problems.
