No. 89 is a traditional woody aromatic fragrance that showcases rose, lavender, mossy woods, and citrus in a delightful British barbershop style. Compared to other contemporary interpretations of classic fragrances, the modern version still impresses with its impeccable and surprisingly rich quality. It opens with orange blossom, followed by gentle spice notes and floral hints. A light musk, some mossy notes, and nutty vetiver emerge in the dry-down. Despite its charm, the powdery bits in the later stages may not work for everyone. Without a doubt, this is a little old fashioned. But if you (like me) are caught up in a cosy English mystery that’s nearly ninety years old, No. 89 may be just the thing to help create an authentic atmosphere.
