Congratulations to HoosierShave for having finished a tub of soap! What a rare a wonderful accomplishment. Tonight when we get out the fireworks, we intend to send up a few of the best in your honor.
As for today’s shave, it couldn’t have been more satisfying. I’ve used the same shaving kit for three consecutive days, and everything is falling into place. Although D.R. Harris’s hard soaps require considerable agitation to create a dense cushion, the lather eventually forms and makes the scraping painless. I should also give credit to the featherweight aluminum Christopher Bradley razor that I’ve been using, along with the gentle yet effective Derby Extra blade, now on its fifth day. Since last Thursday, I haven’t felt any irritation whatsoever.

Thank you! It definitely feels good to finish one but, admittedly, the Pasteur's sale this past weekend means one done is being replaced with...well, let's just say more than one soap
Great Independence Day filled with family and tater salad. Life is good. Afternoon I worked putting food together for a raft trip the end of the week. Wow life is excellent (as long as we keep politics out of it). And this mornings shave was excellent. Tim’s, I lament your passing……but in reality the soaps of today are better in most every regard. Tim’s smells great, it’s slick enough for me, and it’ll shave but it’s never going to give you a glossy emulsion like a super-fat will. I’ve also noticed that these oldsters benefit from addition of some water to the tub and sealed up to allow the, to rehydrate a bit. I’ll be sad when this tub is finished but it ain’t no Sir Henrys.

Tobacco Oud (Grooming Dept) something for everyone

Wow! This is a complex scent. I’m getting dried flowers, blue cheese, tobacco, hard boiled eggs, wood, old-fashioned hair tonic, black pepper, pine sap, vetiver, moss, manure, and even some sweet oud that reminds me of Abercrombie & Fitch circa 2010. There’s something here for every shaver to love, and probably something for every shaver to shake his head over, too. It’s bittersweet, deep, and certainly intriguing. This is another of Mohammad’s curious creations that will take some time to get used to. Nothing wrong with that, though. A sure sign of a classic is that you can keep coming back because there’s so much to unravel.
