One of my favourite places on earth. Up in the Westfjords right now and the Spearhead soap is a perfect match.

Le Tabac (Grooming Dept) humidor wood
Shave 1 ・ 121 g left

This isn’t a pleasant scent at first. Yesterday, when I first unscrewed the lid and took a whiff, I thought something must have gone rancid. There was a sour grassy note that reminded me of how my boots smell after I’ve spent the day mowing lawns. So I left the lid off overnight, and when I woke up this morning first thing I noticed was this odd honey-like note. But it was honey without much sweetness, just weird dry floral notes mixed with the smell of weathered barns and desiccated bits of eucalyptus. Another sniff and I got dried fruit – withered, shriveled, dark and sticky cherries that had been sitting in a cupboard in the root cellar for a decade. And then the wood came through. It was a bit sappy at first, but after a while it smelled of timber that’s been saturated with tobacco, like the planks in an old wooden ship that’s been carrying tobacco in its hold. Finally I got the whole picture, and I realized that what I’d been smelling is the aroma of a humidor after all the cigars and pouches of tobacco have been cleared out. It smells woody, apothecarian, and pretty old fashioned. Le Tabac is going to take some getting used to.

I’ve always been a fan of Chris Cullen’s scents at Caties Bubbles and it saddened me that Dirty Prose wasn’t slated to ever appear again.  So I’ve harbored my time with my tub jealously.  A couple of nights ago i was watching a live event and Chris was commenting as was I. I took the opportunity to lament Dirty Prose when he mentioned his 10th anniversary soap X and that I might be pleased with the profile so I bought a tub and he shipped it and MAN!  This one is Dirty Prose in a tuxedo!  Still has that gritty Prose scent but is dressed up and more refined now.  I’m a happy man. Performance? Excellent.
