Oh brother does the world go fast. Between work, family, and church obligations an old grandpa runs as hard now as ever! Feels like I need new rubber, new plugs, an alignment, and a timing chain. But hey, I love every bit of it and what’s they saying? “You can sleep when you’re dead!” I renewed the river guide license and have at least two trips this year. One with a bunch of my family. I renewed my RV camp sticker so I’m good for another year in the state forests. This spring I bought a senior lifetime pass to the national parks and the ranger said “congratulations”. My bride giggled knowing full well that all I did to earn that ticket was to stay alive for decades! Had meetings this week with the University President and all the deans about how to better deal with anxiety and depression (it’s a big battle for our young adults). Did some financial counseling and some life coaching. Media has taught youth that marriage is Disney and are surprised when real life shows up. They work through it though when an old man giggles when they share their problems and I reply that they are normal as can be. It’s all good friends!
Yep, I’ve been shaving. Can’t look like a bum! This morning was Sunny Lanemwhich makes excellent lather but smells industrial to me. Name doesn’t fit the aroma, but a glorious shave all the same. The Rockwell razor is butter smooth but why is it I have to use plate 6 to get that razor to mid-hot. That wee Stagg lucite brush was enjoyable too. Restore it many years ago but I was three-pass shaving then and it’s too tiny for that so it’s sat. Usually a 2 pass now so my smaller brushes are getting some game time!
Yesterday I used a 30mm Farvour brush and confirmed I like a face full of brush better. Rhapsody is a very nice scent and it is about 9/10 in strength. As always, great lather and performance.
And now because of all my free time I’m onto the next project. A 1968 Delta Rockwell 46-450 lathe. As you can guess it’s almost as rough as me but the bones are good and the mechanicals are sound so some new bearings and a new cabinet door to fabricate and it’ll be cutting brushes in the Teton shaves shop! Playing mechanic for the kid is pretty fun but this old beast ought to pretty much put me out of work. It ought to last him the rest of my life easy. Onward and upward gents. Make it a great day! (Oh, and I closed the deal with a big farm/ranch store yesterday so another 68 locations will carry my towing stuff!)
