Krokos (Abbate y La Mantia) saffron

Behind the magical world of Abbate y La Mantia, where fragrances tell fantastic tales, there stands a young man, Fulco Abbate, a colorful saffron farmer from Grosseto, Italy. Today I enjoyed a few of his videos on YouTube. Youthful in countenance, adorned with sartorial elegance, he expressed his ardor for his craft with a palpable passion. You may get a kick out of them, especially if you speak Italian. If you don't, no worries, there are English subtitles.
But a word of caution. In his fervor, Fulco lets loose a torrent of words that may cloud clarity. Think twice before entering his labyrinthine world of ancient Etruscan deities or vineyards basked in the icy glow of autumnal moonlight unless you have an afternoon to spare. To the casual observer, he may resemble an eccentric, a self-styled visionary. He may even be a bit of a quack. But don’t be swayed by surface impressions, for he’s certainly no charlatan, and his products, not to mention the packaging, are excellent beyond pretense.
Krokos is Abbate y La Mantia’s flagship soap. It’s neon yellow color is due to an infusion of saffron extract, but the fragrance is very mild. In fact it’s nearly scentless, or so it seems at first. But spend some time building the lather, and you’ll notice an elegant earthy spiciness coupled with a dusty floral note that is delightful.

Having used quite a bit of saffron in cooking I immediately latched on to that scent when I opened the jar. One word of caution, don't wear white t-shirts when you're using this. I now have several t-shirts with faint golden yellow tinted collars.

Ethos - Rosa (F Base)
I was worried I'd have no use for my AOS Rose Absolute cream when this came in. However, they are miles apart, both great. The AOS is like the bloom first thing in the morning before the sun bakes the juices away. The Ethos is more full plant (green, woody, and of course rosy).

I saw you dipping into this elegant glass jar a few months back, and I thought, I gotta get me some of that! The scent is very nice, nothing more than saffron really, but it's interesting enough to stand on its own. And the performance, goodness gracious. It's not a super thick lather, but it gave me a great shave today, and I'm going to be all jittery until Krokos comes around in my rotation again. And I see what you mean about the golden lather. Best to strip to the waist when using this.(05-23-2023, 08:50 PM)Bouki Wrote: Krokos (Abbate y La Mantia) saffronI absolutely love Krokos.
