Every time I open a drawer, I discover another tub of soap that I had overlooked while calculating my inventory. As a result, the weight of my collection has increased by over a kilo in the past week, despite not buying anything new. This realization is sobering, as the goal of reducing my hoard to just twenty kilos by the end of the year now seems beyond my grasp. Good grief.
I also stumbled upon some old brushes that have been neglected for years. Among them was my first badger, the Simpson Commodore X1, which I used religiously for years. However, as synthetic knots improved, I gradually stopped reaching for it. That’s a shame, as the brush is of high quality and works quite well with a small puck. Today, I decided to give it another chance and followed Sharpologist’s “Perfect” method to load it with a generous amount of soap and water. To my delight, the brush made a superb lather.
