Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,648

After being spurred on by MarkB to pick Ethos Shave MD soap andSplash for today's shave I figured I'd use the Lutin Brush acquired from Mark (Shave MD) and then complete the ensemble by using the Weck Med Prep Razor. I didn't intend it to be an afternoon shave but my FIL decided to add the ER to the ensemble at 6:30 so took him there before I had a shave or coffee. He's being treated and getting transferred to Lexington VA now to get his dialysis and follow up for a few days on the Pneumonia and Congestive Heart Failure. They say whenit rains it pours but no one ever says when the pouring stops.......Great shave with a great set up and hope all have a great day !

Thoughts going out to your FIL. Hope he gets better soon. I lost my dad last December. He was going through the same stuff; dialysis, pneumonia, etc. My brother and sister, we were fortunate enough to get to spend one last Christmas with him.

Great-looking brush!! That's a very nice memento.

Verbena Toscana (Abbate y La Mantia) soapy verbena
Shave 1 ・ 100% left

Thanks, everyone, for your take on the stainless steel version of the Blackbird. You saved me some money. For now, I’ll stick with the Ti Bird Lite, which has given me a nice string of very good shaves. I like how light and easy it is on the skin, but I’ll give it a rest for a few days as I return to the Karve aluminum Christopher Bradley, another light razor that gets the job done in just two passes.

Verbena Toscana is very hard Italian soap. Its scent is green and quite strong, making this another excellent soap for the middle of the summer. Compared to the heavy tallow soaps I’ve used lately, its vegan lather is a bit frothy, but it pairs well with a featherweight razor and a boar brush.

And it looks like the Wizzies are good for about four shaves, or eight passes. I’ve read about other shavers coaxing dozens of shaves out of these excellent blades, but after five days I felt some tugging, and sure enough, yesterday a dab of irritation welled up.

I first met my bride when I was dating her roommate whom she did not like by the way.  Impressed?  Nah, not so much.  She came into the apartment handcuffed to another girl.  Seems goofing around with some other immature boys will get you locked up.  Anyway, I was older and dating and not interested in this cute, young Montana girl.  And that was that.  Fast forward two years.  I was not dating that other girl anymore but that didn’t take long anyway.  It was Independence Day and a couple of buddy’s invited me to a condo in Deer Lodge Montana for a couple of days.  We’d just come from the golf course and in the clubhouse was a long legged, dark haired, tanned girl at the desk. Her back was to us but when she turned around it was that young handcuffed girl from two years ago and time had treated her very well!  Well, because I “got game” I made a date for that evening and ditched the boys for a steak at the Broken Arrow accompanied by a pretty lady.  I wore Polo Green that night.  We had an incredible evening and made a date for a couple of weeks later in her home town of Helena.  Let me tell you, a four hour drive is a long way to go for a date but she told me to pick her up at the ranch and she’d show me the town.  Ranchers huh?  Those were my kind of people so when the day arrived and I drove to the ranch I was confused and couldn’t find it so I stopped and called and she told me I was less than half a mile away!  Well, her “ranch” was about a hundred acres which in my world was a hobby farm.  Turns out this was what they had left after selling the ranch.  This was the headquarters.  Well, we dated all summer and she came back down to school and after 6 whole months we wed.  Five kids, 16 grands and the best in-laws one could ask for and it looks like after 36 years of marriage we just might make it work!  And she still likes my Polo Green the best.  This Stirling isn’t an exact match but it sure is a good starting place to apply some vintage Polo juice.

I hope things go well for your Father in Law Dave. Pneumonia is no joke.

I didn’t know that brush was from Mark. Very nice.
