The first thing I did when I got my Ti Blackbird was to shave with it three days straight, which is more often then usual for me. For me, the Ti runs circles around the SS version in every respect. It is still amply efficient, yet much smoother, better balanced, and more manoeuvrable. I do not always find the Ti vs SS difference so striking, for example, not so much between the Ti and SS Timeless 095.(05-11-2023, 12:11 AM)Bouki Wrote:(05-10-2023, 06:23 PM)Dragonsbeard Wrote: I had the pleasure of using the Blackbird Ti this past week with both baseplates and that lite is very smooth but nicely efficient especially for the everyday shaver.Yes, Frank, the Blackbird Lite Ti is a pleasure to shave with! It feels so mild, yet it gives such a smooth shave, even after only two passes. I don't have the standard Blackbird baseplate yet (but it's in my shopping basket!). How would you compare the Blackbird Ti to the stainless steel version? Completely different beasts?
Hi Bouki
So I have both baseplates in the Ti Blackbird that a friend sent me to use as I’m in the process of evaluating my razors as I want to get down to only a few.
In the past as some on here may know when I called another shaving forum my home I had a thread where I was doing Shave Offs using two razors in one shave and comparing them for things like efficiency or as some call aggressiveness or effectiveness. Also maneuverability., Smoothness, balance etc. I’ve shaved with many different Blackbirds from the very first version in SS right up to a couple of years ago. I honestly never loved the various different SS BB’s. Could I get a good shave out f then? Yes but I had other razors that were much more pleasant to shave with. Well only about a year or so ago a shaving friend sent me the original Ti Blackbird and I was blown away as how much better I enjoyed it than any SS BB I had shaved with and I started a thread in the Double Edge razor section on here. I didn’t buy one as I was going back and forth on do I want the matte finish or polished that was coming out. So now I find myself with the latest version of the Ti and with both baseplates. For me I very much prefer the BB Ti to the SS version. For me the Ti is smoother, is better balanced and is more maneuverable, all of which means a lot to me at this point in my wet shaving journey of almost 23 yrs. The regular baseplate definitely has more blade feel than the lite plate but with a sharp blade and using no pressure and doing some skin stretching I get a very comfortable shave. I’ve used it with both a hand stropped Feather and a Polsilver blue blade and both have been great in the razor.
Just my opinion of course.
