Dark Limes (Meißner Tremonia) petitgrain & lime
Shave 22 ・ 84% left
Yesterday I mentioned that I had several knobs of this soap scattered around the shack. Today I gathered them all into one of Meißner Tremonia’s excellent violet jars and gave them a good mash. Try as I might, though, I couldn’t get all of the soap into the jar, but what’s there is level with the rim, looking just like a fresh container of Martin de Candre. The rest I’ll hold in reserve waiting to top off the jar as I bore my way down into it.
And the book that will accompany this soap? Why not Sterne’s Tristram Shandy (1759). It’s a tome that’s as thick and lasting as my soap and hopefully just as pleasurable. I’ve started it a dozen times, but always bailed after a book or two. Let’s see if Dark Limes will help me plow through the book’s dark humor.

Tallow is king...usually. This soap in Mo's older Janus Vegan base is an exception. Matter of fact, it's right up there with the cream of the crop tallow soaps...even Omnibus. Whatever wizardry went into crafting this base made it magical. Post shave is sheer delight too. My face feels like it was buffed with butter. So soft and smooth. I'd love to see a return of this base, even with scents like Wet Dog or Moth Ball, I'd buy 'em.

Those jars are made of PETG plastic not acrylic and I’m guessing that Maggards may have bought them from a soap maker I know that switched to Parkway plastic jars in an effort to keep prices down. I use Colt to make my 4.5 oz size Shave Soap and Creme jars. My 7.5 oz jars come from France and they are also PETG plastic. Best plastic there is and the closest to glass. Colt went up 25% after Covid and their set up charge also went up 30% so it’s either raise prices a bit or switch. I personally like the quality.

I don’t think I’d ever guess it wasn’t tallow in a blind taste test. I actually prefer the Janus Vegan over the Janus Tallow, and that base was fantastic too. Mo knows his stuff.

They sure are heavy Dominic . Especially the 7.5 oz. I like the thick bottom. Looks just like the glass jars. I’d hate to get hit with one. Lol
