The Varlet is always a pleasure to use. This one feels a tad too small but man this brush is stunning and a lovely knot.

This tube is dead!!!! That makes 7 tub kills for 2023.

This 29mm H5 fan is crazy! It's a big luxurious cloud on my head shave. It devoured the last of this soap. Initial impressions of TNS batch 5 hair, It's very soft, and has very little if any gel at all. I need more time with it to give a better write-up. But so far very favorable impressions. The H5 loaded and released the soap with ease.

The new M5 series knots are nothing short of spectacular IMO.  I prefer non gelled knots with soft tips and good backbone and the M5 and H5 brushes I got dry soft with no clumping.

Shave 1  ≈  120 g left

Today for the first time I cracked the lid of Chypre. I was met with a heavenly blend of citrus, resin, and oak moss. That was almost enough to make me forget that once I had scooped out all the soap and weighed it on my kitchen scale, I found only 4¼ ounces instead of the promised 5. Despite the disappointment, the fragrance and the five-dollar discount on this fairly expensive item keep me from feeling cheated, so that for now I'm persuaded to reserve judgment on the accuracy of the labeling.

It is an awesome Chypre for sure!

Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,598

This is available to preorder now for April 5th. mrdoug let me know Pasteur's was giving free samples in advance for the asking. It is an exclusive for them and a homage to Miles Davis and NYC Jazz.

Notes: tobacco leaf, tobacco flower, lemon, pink pepper, neroli, rum, tonic bean, dried fruit, cedar, vanilla bean

The scent is not a normal dupe, instead using a couple of different dupe oils and my own touch, making this an entirely unique scent. Birth of the Cool is one-third Maison Margiela Jazz Club, one-third Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille, and one-third my own special tobacco scent blend."

The way the sample came was less than convenient but free is free and who can complain. I had trouble getting it open enough to get some out and ended up scooping all I could with a finger inserted into the tight envelope and smearing what I could get off my fingers and hand into my Turkish copper bowl. It's a soft soap for sure but produced a tremendous lather which had me thinking I do need to get some Macduff's into the den and the scent was a nice one to me and a good strength to enjoy throughout the shave. I was actually thinking I should just order it and then thought I should find another scent I like to get 2 and make shipping count. That's when my recent restraint thinking kicked in and I thought, I do want this one but don't need it now and will get it down the road and a 2nd with it if i find another scent I like when not in a rush. I loved the lather consistency which was easy to get and it rinsed clean from tools as well as cleanly off my face which some with tons of oile do not and bugs me. Macduff's will certainly be added to my den down the road. Everyone have a great day !
