La Fougère Parfaite (Wholly Kaw) chilled fougère
Shave 25 ・ 56% left

Let’s welcome the new season with a soap that’s just buzzing with the fragrance of springtime, the fougère. And what better way to begin than with one of the best in the game, this perfect fougère by Wholly Kaw. Having sat snug with its lid on for a good month, today when it was re-opened, the puck gave off a burst of aromatic bliss. It lathered up marvelously, and with copious amounts of water, it yielded an excellent slip. Now, after a good drenching with Brut (cheers to you, Dave in KY!), I smell like a meadow of newly cut hay on the dawn of a perfect spring morning.

This evening a tub of Henri et Victoria Chestnut l'orange arrived. I decided to order it after watching several reviews on it, all of which said it had no orange smell, just buttery chestnuts.

It arrived and it got an immediate test use. The orange is light... In fact the whole scent is light... But it's definitely got orange notes. I don't care for orange, usually, especially this type of synthetic scent. Additionally, the soap performance is fair, but nothing to write home about. All in all, it was not offensive, but definitely forgettable. I'm going to file this away in the "pass it on" pile. Can't win them all, I suppose.

For some silly reason, I had hoped I had found something akin to Stirling Chestnut roasting... But this is far from it. I hope Rod makes that scent in a shave soap next Christmas, as it is a nice bar soap scent. If not, I need to hunt for something else similar... If it even exists.

Have a good night folks.

Been lurking (and shaving Friday, Saturday, and Monday) and wanting to post, but the stars never aligned till now. Sorry, not trying to shill for Ethos... This happened organically... The first two just came in a few days ago, and today just felt like a lavender day (rare for me) and I've hardly used this tub.

If these were my only 3 shaves ever, I'd still have concluded F Base is best. (Granted, used different razors/brushes for each shave.)

Ethos - Rendezvous (Updated S Base, I thought (?), although the side label indicates F Base)
