Vétyver série limitée (Martin de Candre)
Shave 29 ・ ≈ 247 shaves left
As I conclude my seventh straight shave with Vétyver, it’s time to reflect on the lessons I’ve learned. You might assume that a vegan soap wouldn’t be so parched, but this Martin de Candre lather was a thirsty beast, requiring far more water than I had anticipated. Each morning as I drenched it on my palm, I marveled at the lather’s astonishing expansion. With each drop of water, this soap grew in volume, as if it were alive and thriving like some sort of sci-fi blob that had escaped from the lab.
Despite the soap’s age – nearly five years old now – I was delighted to discover that there was still plenty of scent to be savored within the jar. Each day brought with it a new appreciation for the complexity of Vétyver’s aroma, a reminder that time can be a kind and generous companion to certain things.
But alas, as with all good things, my time with this particular soap must come to an end. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new chapter, a new tub, and a new adventure. One week with a single soap is about all I can manage before I start craving something new.
