Barbershop Saturday

Saturday is my favorite day of the week for many reasons. I take a long shave without worrying about work. Remove all the old man hair [ears, nose, back off the neck] and administer my burr haircut. Trim the nails and get the old eyebrows trimmed. Every Saturday.... For 18 years that has been my routine. I am finishing my third tub of tabac - as she is my usual choice.

The second more prevalent puck choice for barbershop Saturday - Old Spice variants. I have tried well over a dozen. You fellas know - some lather better, some smell better. I have my top 3: Stirling, Omnibus Reserve, and Soap Commander. Nothing approaches the original Spice in scent. I have some vintage AFS - amazing stuff. Why can't we get an accurate dupe.!? We need to get Frank or Dom on this.

The fragrance brings memories of my dad and grand PA finishing theie shaves [DE and straight respectively] off with those glorious white bottles.

C U all tomorrow

Ok I just have to ask... Can you recommend a OS type soap that smells like the Indian OS cream currently on the market? I obviously could just use that, except it's performance is rather sub-par. I do, however, enjoy that lightly scented, citrus dominant variant. Thanks.

This is kinda weird.. I’ve had a pet project I’ve been working on behind the scenes. I really like the original Old Spice and have a small collection of some vintage stuff. So after doing some research and finding all the scent notes that are in the original I thought how cool would it be to duplicate it as best as possible but only use all natural essential oils instead of the pre made synthetics Old Spice dupes. There’s enough of them out there in my humble opinion.

My memories of Old Spice go back to being a kid watching my dad shave with it and splashing the after shave on followed by the Talc. So it’s on my bucket list and I’ll keep you updated my friend on my progress.

I need something to sniff for a guide. Vintage or modern or Indian?
