Years ago when we settled into our quaint seaside cottage with a curious history, I couldn't help but notice the peculiar eyelet screws adorning the ceiling. Their presence was enigmatic, their purpose a mystery. Yet, as time passed, I discovered their practicality to be surprisingly convenient. I devised a clever use for these unexpected fixtures – an effortless solution for drying my wet brushes after each use. I bent a length of fishing line to one of the eyelets, tying a slip knot in the other end. Then after each shave I suspend the handle of my brush in the knot, allowing its bristles to hang down and dry in the sea breeze like a captured pirate strung up on the docks. In this way, my brushes dry quickly, even the animal bristles, and as they do their odd appearance brings a smile to my face while their damp knots perfume the room.
