Ethos Grooming Sandalo

To my nose there are 3 major Sandalwood families: creamy, dry, and cologne. Frank's Sandalo to me, fits the creamy, milky variety. It has a bright top, almost like a mint or peppermint accord off the puck... that dissipated mostly upon lathering. I was reminded throughout the shave of coconut. Not odd,, pleasing, but definitely present.

This F puck has the best performance I have experienced on any of the other flavors that I own. Frank amped up something to my liking. Seemed more like a tallow soap to me - best Ethos recipe for me to date.

The overarching commentary for Ethos is, as we all know, that the scent(s) are not overpowering but classy and well done. First CLASS soap. I have 'saved' using previous versions for special days, but this will get used more frequently as it is an unobtrusive, classy, 'office' puck. Any post shave frag will work well with this - I used Tom Ford's Santal today. Not a bad day.

Dave in KY, that was a nice conversation on lather bowls, and your Turkish bowl is a beaut. I’ve been observing lathering bowls for quite a spell too. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, prices, and materials - ceramic, copper, steel, melamine, you name it. Some have ridges, some have rings, and others are as smooth as a summer’s day. They’re handy little things, I'll give you that, especially when you’re working with creams. Dip your wet brush too many times in the pot and a cream turns to slush. Better to scoop out a knurdle and smear it in a bowl. But here’s the thing, lathering bowls are all well and good, but they don’t always make the best emulsion. Too often they turn out a sallow, still lather altogether lacking spring and life. I’ve found that if you want lather that’s thick, full of body, and so shiny you’ll need shades, nothing beats an old calloused palm.
