Cade (L’Occitane en Provence) sweet conifer

My third shave in a row with Cade and the lather is getting better. Still, it takes a lot of working and quite a bit of water to get a satisfactory emulsion. The key is to add the water slowly, just a wee drop at a time. And having softened water helps immensely. I should also note that my puck has been sitting around for a long time, at least five years. I bought it back in 2017. Since then I believe this formula has been reformulated. Recent pucks are rumored to be even more temperamental.

Out of curiosity, what brush are you using?

Have found a brush possessing little back bone lathers stubborn soaps much more readily, particularly so if combined with distilled water.

DanLaw, I’m using a scratchy old Omega 10065. It’s stiff and brittle and shedding like a sheepdog in the springtime. Not really ideal for a hard soap like Cade, but it’s all I’ve got right now. With luck something soft and floppy will be coming to my rescue soon.
