Clay Face

Le Vétiver (Grooming Dept) rhubarb vetiver
Shave 19 ・ 12 g left

After another excellent shave with Le Vétiver – I still can’t figure out how this puffy, fleeting lather gives me such a fine shave and finish – I emptied a vial of Bruno Fazzolari’s Vetiverissimo into my palm and patted it around my neck. All day long I’ve smelled like floor wax. Its mix of botanical and industrial notes is surprising at first, but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I have fond memories of my dad waxing the floors every Saturday morning with some industrial-grade product. It filled the house with a memorable accord of bananas, toluene, phenol, and vetiver. I guess it made a deep impression, since even now I wipe my own floors with vetiver oil, in spite of its famous earthy notes. To me it’s the smell of clean.

Razor: Assured 3 Piece
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Suart/Timberwolf
Soap: b-pure
AS 1: Witch Hazel
AS 2: Power Stick Shave Balm
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,484

The soap for $1.25 is a great deal. It isn't a top artisan soap but very good to get the job done and lathers easily. The razor has a lot of blade feel meaning blade exposure which translates to blade chatter galore. I got a good shave from it but not a comfortable razor if you are shaving your whole face including around the mouth and chin with all the contours. The chatter had it struggling on the against the grain for my whiskers especially in the mustache area. I'm not a Balm guy but while it felt sticky, filmy or greasy (Choose your terminology) going on, as I type this it has absorbed well and feels good. Nice kick from the peppermint oil in it. Have a great day everyone !
