Himalayan Heights (Meißner Tremonia) deodar cedar
Shave 23 ・ 165 g left
Last night I picked up Peter Matthiessen’s Snow Leopard for the umpteenth time. An account of his 1973 long walk through the Himalaya, the book is filled with Matthiessen’s excellent nature writing along with some weighty rumination on the meaning of suffering and the paths to religious enlightenment. This book should be right up my alley, but for some reason, I have the hardest time finishing it. Let’s see if today’s soap, so perfectly redolent of Himalayan cedar, can help me keep my focus.
Dzongkha (L’Artisan Parfumeur) iris incense
If you’ve ever smelled Bertrand Duchaufour’s remarkable ode to incense, Timbuktu, then you’ve also smelled his Dzongkha. The only difference between the two is a big pinch of iris in Dzongkha, which gives it a dressier sort of elegance. Both fragrances combine gobs of pungent incense with unusual flowery bits and some dried fruit. Wondering what Dzongkha means? It’s the official language of Bhutan, a small Himalayan kingdom that served as inspiration for this fragrance.
