Barrister and Mann Dickens likely wouldn’t remind me of this holiday season except for the fact I’ve had this soap enough seasons that the scent is now included into my olfactory files as a “Christmas scent”.  It really is lovely and the Glissant base had always been a favorite.

Looking back to the time before I first signed on to DFS, I see that I used to be a healthy-minded individual. One razor, two brushes, and three soaps was all my den, and even with that meager hoard, I thought myself profligate.

But then, like you, I started scooping up soap in a reckless fashion. My tubs overflowed my den and filled the spaces in the bookshelves and under the furniture. And I didn’t stop with soap. It turns out suds were just my soft entry into the pricy world of perfumes. Now I have more fine fragrances than I have whiskers on my chin. Most are just decants or tiny vials. They don’t take up much room, but still, they’re littering the place. It’s time to use them or lose them.

So along with my daily soap note, I’ll post a few words on each day’s cologne. I suspect there’s a thread just for this topic, but I’m too lazy to post twice.

COLOGNE NOTE: Azemour les Orangers (Parfum d’Empire) creamy orange: There’s just enough resin in this citrus scent to push the fragrance into chypre country. A spot of green gives it some legs. The orange burns off within thirty minutes, but the soft incense dry down is magical. Spray it on your collar if you want it to linger all day long.
