Shave 6 ・ 95 g left

Fougère Friday is upon us again. This week we’ll celebrate with Fine’s American Blend. What an excellent slick lather it makes, and I really the like the smell. Based on YSL’s Rive Gauche pour Homme, this is a very nice woody fougère that’s lighter on the oakmoss and geranium than most. Only wish it would last all the way through the shave.

I'm not sure what's wrong with my nose, but all I get from this scent are razor-sharp, perfumy aldehydes. I've had the soap a couple times and the aftershave. Hard pass for me, but I wish I got out of it what most do, then I'd be all about it.
Neroli, this one I like.

It is purty close to Rive Gauche, not as "rounded and full" as I think there are some expensive or more hard to add notes that YSL has in it that Fine does not utilize.

Similar to PAA CAD I think. Rive Gauche another masterpiece that is gone forever. My most complimented EDT for a decade. I have one bottle left. Bouki is keeping us on our toes with some good reaches lately.

I'm jealous, I wish that worked for me... Sounds nice (and I should like it!!!).

Grooming Department Mallard Fougère

Like some of the big perfumers / fragrance houses, there are certain accords that are characteristic, one can pick up and identify as a 'marker': Guerlain, Chanel, Dyptique to name a few. Grooming Department soaps have some underlying blend that hooks & holds my attention. I have 3-4 pux I lather quite frequently. NYC Chypre, Cedarwood, Soap, and La Aventurra. This fougère has both the NYC Chypre & La Aventurra accords buried in the blend. This one is going to grow on me quickly - like Tabac did.

It's nowhere as dry, sweet, or complex as Rive Gauche per Homme (you know, TommyCarioca, that's still my favorite fougère. I have ¾ of a bottle left, so it only comes out of the garage once a week when the weather is clear). To me AB smells like old time shaving cream, sort of cheap and fleeting, but I'm good with that once in a while, especially when I'm in a nostalgic mood. I'd use it more but the Fine hard soap base bleeds through quite a bit. I think that's why I retired or piffed all my other Fine pucks. I've never tried the new soft base. How does it smell?

Thanks for the assurance on AB, Bouki.
I tried the new base, don't recall any scent of the base, but I didn't even try two of them. The Clubman dupe and the Floid dupe.
I also had the Italian Citrus... I got tired of that scent before I even got it, so it didn't get much love either. Sold all 3.

Neroli, definitely worthy. Not a new release. I got it on BST in a big lot sale. Lucky pick-up. I haven't seen signs of it anywhere before or after the purchase.

Barrister & Mann - Fougere Gothique (Omnibus)

A seasonal favorite. Conjures up rotting leaves and dark clouds. We aren't quite there yet, but a great way to feel so.

Great nose TommyCarioca

L'Avventura is an evolution of Mallard Fougère!. There is a future Fougère called WIST that is inspired by L'Avventura Smile
