I like Declaration Grooming’s luxurious lather, but I’m a bit irked to find mold growing on the soaps. “Keep your brush out of the jar,” I hear you say. But my sweet brushes never touch a DG puck. I always scrape them with a spatula and then smash the knurdle in my acacia loading bowl. Looking carefully at the jar, I don’t see any use-by date, but from my experience with these soaps, it may be best to gobble them up before they celebrate their first birthday.
Nero I'm with you on the aldehydic after tones in Fine's
American Blend. It's nowhere as dry, sweet, or complex as
Rive Gauche per Homme (you know,
TommyCarioca, that's still my favorite fougère. I have ¾ of a bottle left, so it only comes out of the garage once a week when the weather is clear). To me
AB smells like old time shaving cream, sort of cheap and fleeting, but I'm good with that once in a while, especially when I'm in a nostalgic mood. I'd use it more but the Fine hard soap base bleeds through quite a bit. I think that's why I retired or piffed all my other Fine pucks. I've never tried the new soft base. How does it smell?
