Familiar?  I have always liked this tub of B&M Patches and bought it originally because f the main notes of strawberry, basil, and black pepper.  It is so not gourmand though.  Anyway, I liked it but I didn’t love it and it only saw infrequent use.  This morning though I found myself absolutely feeling this scent and wondered why things had changed.  The soap scent seems the same as the first time I opened it.  My nose hasn’t changed judging by other scents I enjoy.  The only thing I can figure is this soap has become familiar and has built its own synapse center in my brain like lilacs in the spring or campfire smoke.  At any rate I really enjoyed this mornings shave and look forward to the next time I grab this soap.  Oh, and another scent I love is the mossy smell of a river in the fall.  This is a kid I work with who had never caught a fish on a fly.  Can’t say that now!

I’m pretty fortunate for sure.  I can be on this section in under 40 minutes.  It’s a great “after work” stretch that usually yields some good fish.  (And this fella is so lucky to know me! Hahaha). And I’m sorry you Are Ill. Get well soon my friend.

Clay Face
Honolulu, Hawaii
Crema da Barba (Santa Maria Novella) cool tobacco
Shave 9 ・ 208 g left

I’m baffled by this soap. The lather isn’t that thick. It doesn’t offer much cushion. To the touch, it’s not super slick. And if this were served in a yogurt cup, I wouldn’t dip my spoon into it. But somehow when I slap Crema da Barba on my face and start dragging my razor, the results are uncommonly smooth. The blade slides over my skin without the slightest friction, and I come away with a shave that feels fresh for at least ten hours. I bought this soap for its fragrance, but I'm discovering that its performance is just as enticing.

DanLaw, sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope you shake it soon. And thanks for your notes on this and other soaps. Now you got me wondering about Antica Barbieria Colla. If it's anything like Santa Maria Novella, I may have to add a little more soap to my hoard. Do you prefer the ABC Almond Oil Cream or their Red Sandalwood Hard Shaving Soap? (Feel free to chip in, even if you're not Dan!)

Traditional almond for me - it only a good soap for DE/SE in comparison to new age super soaps BUT when straight shaving, it shows its strength in slickness.

Believe TommyCarioca gave the red sandalwood a go - he familiar with the traditional as well, so may be inclined to opine.

Thank you for the well wishes.

Get well Dan
I have the ABC soaps & find them similar to The Fat in slickness but easier to lather. Be careful though, the almond is quite strong. Smells like a good pour of amaretto.
