Gentleman's Nod Jackie No. 42
Cardinal Base V. 4 non-cooled

I am very impressed by Jackie, described as an aromatic fougere.  It is beautifully scented and the base is stellar.  This soap is now available in tallow non-cooled and cooled Summer Edition versions as well as a non-tallow base.

This soap is named in honor of Jackie Robinson who wore the number 42, a number which is now retired across all of Major League Baseball. Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947, becoming the first Black player to play in modern Major League Baseball.  No. 42 is also retired across all sports at UCLA, the school from which I graduated.  Robinson was the first athlete in UCLA's history to letter in four varsity sports, including football, basketball, baseball as well as track and field.

It takes only a third of a gram of this highly condensed soap to make a splendid two-pass lather. I won’t be surprised if I get hundreds of shaves from this one jar. I’m loading my soft synth brush directly from the container even though the soap is the croapish S-base (Frank recommends you use a scoop). For me, eighty swirls is just right.

Mike's - Rose, Patchouli, Cedarwood

Wouldn't have been my number one pick (read: patchouli).
But I was just interested in trying (read: NEEDED) another of his soaps.
... and this was the only thing available (read: Mike's).

I don't know why, but this kinda reminds me of fallen leaves in the sun after a rain, if that makes any sense. Seriously-great performance, as we knew.
