Tommy, what is that beautiful red brush? BTW, I used that very same handle on my shave today with a Yates 921-M head.

South,

Yes sir, it is one of my favorite handles.. My preference is for 100mm handles. And this copper on the CG ages so nicely. It just gets a nice burnt red color and deepens every year. I have had her 6 years I think. Good choice South!

The brush is one of those 'blood of kings' DG brushes. I owe Danny Law for clueing me in on her. It is the only 'specialty' hand tied knot I own. Great great face feel for sure. Flow through is average for me - but the handle material is something else.

To be fair, it a B9A+ so it not the best hair BUT it not nearly as bad as some deride. In fact, aside from a slightly moppish face feel, it quite good; found it to perform quite well on every other metric. Was actually surprised how well it released lather for me.

I’m really enjoying my three soap rotation, but I decided to tweak it a little. Thing is, I’d like to finish one tub of soap each month. If I play my cards right, I may be able to get through twelve tubs by this time next year. That means, though, that I have to be done with my first tub before then end of August. So I’ll need to find a soap that’s already more than half gone. That’s why I’ve traded my huge tub of Barrister & Mann Bay Rum for this slight jar of Le Vétiver. It’s a good time of year for vetiver after all, and if all goes to plan, I should have this soap all slicked up before September.

I am envious (in a good way). That is one nice looking brush. I would like to track one down in B15. But actually, I am not doing half-bad myself. Today I received my DG B11 Poison Pond brush that I picked up on BST. I am still trying to figure out how DG does their brush sales. Right now, the only brush I surmise is available is a Pre-order for a pour entitled Nebulosa. It is too dark and does not capture my fancy so I'll pass.

Funny Danny. Great face feel but that is how I would describe it - moppish. It locks up a good bit of lather... . Not as much as the infamous fanchurains. So it is kind of like Aventus batch numbers - one has to be tuned in on the various vintages. It is my 'purtiest' non-wood brush though!

Good luck in your quest. I have been scoring wet shavedom for a varlet beehive. Love that shape - but trying to get in the que is too frustrating and onerous.

Southern Witchcrafts - Fougere Nemeta

Green, fruity, juicy, bright, clean, original.
Really well blended and a good strength throughout. For me, one of the top performers, and possibly the most underrated soap base. Brainless shaves and super soft and calm post.

"Fougere Nemeta is a Spring fragrance created for Southern Witchcrafts by award-winning perfumer Shawn Maher. The fragrance gets its name from Celtic ritual sites called nemeta, often located in sacred groves. This scent is a bright and clean fougère featuring luscious greens accompanied by blossoming florals and crisp fruit accords."

Notes: Petitgrain, strawberry, cassis, lavender, geranium, galbanum, fig leaf, vetiver and oakmoss

So glad Paul pif'd me this soap to try. The lather was easy to make and an outstanding lather too. The scent was a nice fresh and clean one with great strength. Sad to say on the 2nd pass I was feeling something going on and by the 3rd pass a burning that had me anxious to shave it all off quickly. I'm unsure if it was something in the base or more likely the fragrance used but it will be a pif or trade soap for me unfortunately. Thanks Paul (mrdoug) for the chance to give this one a try. My 1st 345 Soap to use and sad to say can't keep this one in the den.......I'm assuming you had the same reaction but can't remember
