Palmolive Shaving Cream with menthol

A sprinkle of menthol put a bit of frost on today’s shave. The chill felt great on my burned cheeks, and at the same time it whisked me up to the snowy slopes of the Himalaya, the setting for this week’s good read, Annapurna. So how are the French lads faring up there? Well, their maps are so inaccurate, they’ve spent the first third of the book wandering across Nepal simply searching for a mountain to climb. So far they’ve reconnoitered the glaciers and ridges around Tukucha without any luck. The monsoons are due in a few weeks, so a decision must be made soon. Can they rely on the mantic mumblings of an itinerant monk who says their destiny lies on Annapurna? Fun stuff. The book is a quick, easy read that doesn’t require oodles of attention – a lot like today’s soap.

Black Tie Razor - Sandalwood

I will try to be brief/concise, but it will be difficult, as this particular fragrance accord sits at the pinnacle of my favorites/preferences.

Fine Santal/AOS Sandalwood was a tallow based offering and a huge favorite amongst the wet shaving community. I had been seriously bummed that I failed to stock pile both the soap and the AFS.

We have a hero amongst us as Dom at BTRC has resurrected the tallow soap & the AFS as it smells exactly like the Fine Santal. Thank heavens.

Easy to lather, huge puck, tallow in the bill, and that great fragrance accord is back at great pricing. Thank you BTRC. I will be stockpiling. And I think I will buy some pucks to use as a bath soap, and give as gifts.

So boys, if you miss Fine Santal/AOS Sandalwood - we have been rescued by BTRC.

My only niggle is that I love it so that I would suggest more fragrance in the puck and AFS. Go big and go beast like Dom.

Yesterday:  A&E SoCal Hipster
Today:  Below.  Not sure this was the best mix and match.  Omnia, although listed as having citrus accord as its first scent note by Mohammad on the GD website, really is far more herbal and spicy. But I wanted to try it with the fruit blast that is Bell Ringer -- grapefruit, mango, orange, lemon.  Didn't quite meld.  A bit of a oddity found in the forest in an oak mossy glen where a grapefruit is on the ground.  I'll live.  But the Icy Stare is always good on a hot day.  Unscented WS-23 coolant.  Looking forward to a weekend of leisurely fine shaves.  Probably will start old school with MWF.
