Cubebe (Saponificio Varesino) spiced amber
Shave 3 ・ 147 g left

Like the rest of the Saponificio Varesino range, this spicey–woody Cubebe builds a brilliant lather that can challenge any tallow soap for pure shaving satisfaction. The lather is dense but still slick, and the scent puts many bovine soaps to shame. So why has it sat on the shelf unused and unloved for nearly a year? No other reason but dope-headedness on the part of the user. I can’t remember a good thing when I’ve got it.

Been dreaming about this all week. Why wait... longer?

Why does no one else produce a violet??????

It would be perceived as too feminine. Wouldn't sell well.

Anyone who likes florals would like this.

(Also, I renege part of what I said... RR had a couple violet soaps but they smelled fake/plastic.)

Nothing, beyond GFT, with it as the sole ingredient, but several mixed.

Still trying to use up a tub of Fendrihan's "Charcoal".

The base is perfectly fine. I strongly suspect it may be manufactured by the same people who make TOBS creams.

The colour though, makes it look like that J-B Weld "Liquid Aluminum" Epoxy. The lather has a grey tinge and the dissolved lather looks like something out of a sewage treatment plant.

The scent does smell a wee bit like a charcoal barbecue, but without the seared beefy goodness of steaks and burgers.

There's not a soul here who would blame you if you were to put Fougère back in the garage. It's a fantastic soap without a doubt, but you've hung in with it long enough. Your fellow shavers are thoroughly awestruck by your steadfastness. You said you'd use it until the middle of June. That's come and gone. Check that box and then open up a new tub. You'll feel good about yourself.

Actually, RR had one (Napoleon's Violet) and Wickham was the other I had (Parma Violet). Not a fan of either. Nothing exciting.

GFT is the only one that I like/love. Like a good floral does, it makes my mouth water. Hate to be "that guy", but I think it smells better from the aluminum tube... I think over time it loses a little of its juice in the plastic tub... I've had one of those too Big Grin (eventually sold it)
No regrets buying it again. Used it twice and I've only had it for a couple weeks. If it had been here earlier in spring, it likely would have had at least a couple more uses.

Odd that as Cella has the same issue with scent impact arising from 'leaching' associated with the tub and absent in the brick; many also find the tub variant irritating to the skin.
